Experience Anna Anthropy’s journey of becoming transgender in ‘Dys4ia’

A couple days ago I had a conversation about transgender people with two of my friends. The three of us agreed that, while we have no problem with people changing their sex, the concept makes us uncomfortable. And as someone who doesn’t have issues with my gender, it is hard to even begin to understand how it would feel to not identify with something that so clearly defines you, and the emotional and psychological pain that must put one through.

Anna Anthropy’s Dys4ia is a powerful little flash game that recounts her personal experience of changing her gender. The way the mini-games change over time express her emotions in a way no other medium can. It’s abstract, but also really accessible and simple, in a way that lets Anna share her experience with others.
